Protocols
I am very delighted to welcome you all to this Media Launch organized to bring to the door steps of art loving Nigerians, the First Ever Global Arts Festival to hold in Nigeria since the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture “Festac 77” held in Lagos, Nigeria in 1977.
That is, the Forthcoming Afro International Film Market and Festival Nigeria 2020!
The Afro International Film Market and Festival Nigeria Limited has the Franchise of the Long Established Cape Town International Film Market and Festival of South Africa, to organize the Festival from April 20th to April 25th, 2020 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
The Decision to Host the Festival in Nigeria, is that Nigeria has the Largest Film Industry in the Continent and second to India globally, in terms of content production.
Nigeria is the Home of the Continent’s biggest stars in the Creative Industry; consequently, Nigeria is the national destination to host what will soon become Africa’s Largest Creative Industry Event.
The Objectives of the Afro International Film Market and Festival 2020 are:
To enable Nigeria Creative Industry, benefit from the economic value chain of the Global Film Industry.
To ensure that Nigeria Creative Industry transcend from its current informal nature to a highly organized revenue yielding industry.
To enable Nigeria’s Creative Industry not only to serve as a creator of content, but also, to be the Financial Hub of the Film Business in the Continent.
To provide a forum for discovering new talents, training and improvement of skills of indigenous artistes.
To create employment opportunities for teeming educated unemployed youths.
With digitization of Nigeria Broadcasting Industry, content of television, cable and radio stations is key to their sustainability. Consequently, the Festival will serve as a source of the much needed content for the Nation’s Broadcasting Industry.
The 5-Day Festival is designed to provide a forum for creative artistes, professional film makers, equipment manufacturers, and the target audience of the Creative Industry to interact under one gathering.
The Event will also provide festival workshops master classes to improve artistes on various skills in the Creative Industry.
Equally, there will be Film Industry Expo to highlight production demonstrations and promotions, and an Award Night which will be a replica of America Oscar, where the Festival Contestants will be recognized and awarded trophies for their exceptional contributions to Africa and World Cinema.
In addition, the Festival will provide a forum for collaboration and joint production among local and foreign artistes.
We have invited the Federal and all the State Government Cultural troupes to participate in this Epoch Making Event.
I am pleased to inform you, that this Festival has received the endorsement of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture as well as other global content providers such as; the Pan African Film Festival, Los Angeles, United States of America; the Halifax Black Film Festival, Toronto; the Black Festival and Montreal International Film Festival. While over 5,000 participants are expected to grace the Festival.
It should be noted that while film production, sales and distribution will be the Core of the 5-Day Event, we have incorporated other creative arts such as: fine arts, literary arts, music, fashion design and culture, to expand the Scope of the Festival.
Nigeria Music Industry has taken Africa and the world stage like a storm, hence should be promoted and structured as a revenue yielding business devoid of pirating and copyright issues.
Similarly, Nigeria Fashion Design Industry has come of age, and the Practitioners are competing with other global designers. Also, we need to promote all aspects of Nigeria culture, cultural dances, culinary arts, literary and fine arts.
I must state that as the Maiden Edition of the Festival, we must have challenges since we are expecting huge attendance from within Nigeria and beyond. However, we promise to host a very successful Festival!
Consequently, we wish to use this forum to appeal to the Federal and State Governments, blue chip companies, and entrepreneurs to patronize this Festival as sponsors. We have various sponsorship and advertising packages they can buy into.
The Pre-Event and Main Event of the Festival will be relayed on live television to a huge national demographic base.
Finally, I must thank our Chief Consultant for Media & Marketing, Bloom Oases Global Consulting Limited for powering this Event, as well as the members of the Press and distinguished guests for gracing this occasion.
May God bless you all.
