AN UNCOMMON LEADER FROM AWKA...Who represents the radical and progressive arm of this generation

_By Emmanuel Tobee Aniagoh_

I remembered one of *Warren Bennis* quotes, which reads; _"No leader sets out to be a leader. People set out to live their lives, expressing themselves fully. When that expression is of value, they become leaders. So the point is not to become a leader. The point is to become yourself, to use yourself completely – all your skills, gifts and energies – in order to make your vision manifest. You must withhold nothing. You must, in sum, become the person you started out to be, and to enjoy the process of becoming."_

For the past two decades, *Comrade Obi Muodilim (Ochije Awka),* a native of Umuogbu village, Awka, popular for his quintessential character as a grassroots mobilizer and believer in justice and equity, have been using his skills, gifts and energy to touch and impact the lives of many, most importantly youth.

Comrade Obi Ochije represents the radical and progressive arm of this generation and a mouthpiece for the downtrodden.

Only a new visitor in Awka will not be familiar with his name. Comrade Obi Ochije, a reputable and successful business man, is one of the most important and influential APGA Stakeholder in Awka. A tireless human right activist with an impressive résumé —from being a one time Anambra State Coordinator of Transform Nigeria Movement, TNM, to being the Youth Chairman of 20 out of the 33 villages in Awka, to becoming the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Community  Liaison - Ochije embodied the merits of activism and reform.

Ochije is dedicated to helping people, causes and institutions reach their potential. He is that rare, quite but effective leader whose ability to reach large audiences is matched by an equal capacity to serve as mentor to many youths in Awka and beyond.

These are the types of leaders that we must value the most because we are inspired by their courage and resiliency, which in turn, we seek to emulate.

This very humble uncommon leader, is so self-aware, clear about his identity and expectations and have the backs of his people because he can be trusted – such a man is the one the people instinctively gravitate towards.

Men of inestimable value like Ochije, are the kind of leaders that are rare to find and will not soon be forgotten by their peers and the society they serve.

This is the leader that can get the most out of very little, who is grateful for the opportunity to serve, and always treat others like family.

This is Ochije, the uncommon leader and right activist from Awka.
